Local Yarn Store Day is being held for the first time on April 21st. Visiting your local yarn store is not only important for the community, but provides amazing opportunities for knitters to learn, be inspired and grow their stash. Koigu has partnered with local yarn stores to create custom colours only to be purchased at those shops on the 21st. Over the following weeks we will be posting information on the various stores which will have custom colours on local yarn store day!
Soper Creek Yarn
Soper Creek Yarn is a beautiful shop located in downtown Bowmanville, Ontario. They carry a wide assortment of yarn and accessories. They have a beautiful spring coloured custom speckle for LYS Day available on April 21st. Learn more about their plans for LYS Day below.
Is this your first ever event similar to LYS Day? We have done events along with other shops in our Downtown, but this is the first promoting the Local Yarn Shop. We have been part of Yarn Crawls in the area as well. Perhaps it will encourage an impromptu Yarn Crawl by some?
What do you have planned for LYS Day? The LYS day is just 2 days after a Bowmanville event ‘Girl’s Night Out’ which is on Thursday April 19,the shop will be open until 10 pm.We will have a Needle Felting display and a tea tasting opportunity. Then Friday we will dig out some of the clearance yarn and feature some of the new products we have acquired for just those days. Each day there will be an opportunity to enter a draw for the prizes provided by some of our suppliers and a Gift Certificate to the shop.
How is Soper Creek Yarn different from other shops? We offer other products as well as Yarn. Our Knitting Needle and notion selection take up a 15 foot wall filled with almost any tool needed for your projects, the shop has expanded its gift line to include, Solmate Socks, Blue Q gifts and ready made sweaters from Ireland.
What makes Soper Creek Yarn Special? When we look for new products for the shop, I look for companies that are community minded: giving back to the local economy by providing jobs, using renewable resources, giving back by donating to various charities. It’s important that we continue to be creative and share our talents and our wealth of knowledge with others. The shop has qualified staff, with many years of knittting experience, we can help with most projects and are able to take the time to help choose the right yarn and we hope we give you the right advice to create a beautiful project.
“We are proud to carry so many products made in Canada, Koigu is a favourite of many."
