Local Yarn Store Day is being held for the first time on April 21st. Visiting your local yarn store is not only important for the community, but provides amazing opportunities for knitters to learn, be inspired and grow their stash. Koigu has partnered with local yarn stores to create custom colours only to be purchased at those shops on the 21st. Over the following weeks we will be posting information on the various stores which will have custom colours on local yarn store day!
Knitty City
Knitty City is based in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York. Outside of LYS Day, the shop holds events frequently, whether that be for classes, book signings or designer meet ups. I asked owner Pearl a series of questions to get a picture of what Knitty City’s LYS Day will look like!
Is this the first event of its kind for your store? NYC has had several yarn crawls in the past that have been fun. This is the first nation-wide one.
What specials will you have available on LYS Day? 10% off yarn sold that day!
What is unique about your store? We are a community yarn store, and people are welcome to come and knit anytime. We encourage independence, and give free advice. There are a lot of classes and community events.
What will you be featuring on LYS Day? Murky Depths which is a local indie dyer will have a trunk show. As well as the custom Koigu colour.
Further initiatives Knitty City will be taking part in this spring, encouraging the community to give back..
