Pinterest puts out a trend report before each New Year and although many of the trends don’t directly relate to fibre arts, it doesnt mean we can’t get some inspiration from them and apply them to what we do!
Let’s take a look at the first trend and see how we can apply it fibre art…
Give A Scrap: Making the most out of waste!
Finding ways to use all the little odds and ends is all the rage right now (and hopefully a trend that’s here to stay)! “Waste not, want not” is what my parents always told me growing up, and it seems this has caught on in every craft.
Find ways to use bust your yarn stash and use even the tiniest ends!
In the fibre world this can look like:
-using yarn scraps as stuffing
-leaving your ends out on scrappy projects
-more patchwork and granny square projects
-darning and visible mending
-using yarn to customize household items
-frogging old projects and reusing the yarn
-carding yarn scraps to make new handspun
-making smaller projects (like bows, scrunchies, small scarves, ornaments)
